Welcome to Vermont Street United Methodist Church!
Here Is What to Expect
Before you come:
The very first thing we’ll ask of you is simple: relax. No matter what your spiritual background or past, we want you to “come as you are” because that’s how we believe God takes us — “as is.” From there, we’ll help each other grow to be all God intended us to be. As a church, we strive to live by faith, to be known by love, and to be a voice of hope.
Once you’re here:
Our Sunday morning services last about one hour, and include compelling songs, teachings from the Bible, and opportunities for you to connect with God and others. These additional opportunities include times of prayer, communion, and more. Everything we do is designed to give you an opportunity to encounter God both Sunday morning and throughout your week.
Vermont Street offers two services every Sunday morning.
Our 9:00 AM service is more a more traditional service with music from our beautiful organ, songs from our hymnal and more.
Our 11:00 AM service is a more contemporary service with modern music led by our praise team.
Whichever service you choose to attend, we want you to be comfortable and to feel connected to God.
What should I wear?
We believe that the heart and the attitude matter more than appearance, and you will find a diverse variety of what people wear when they come to services at Vermont Street.
At our traditional service (9AM) you’ll see more suits, dresses and business casual attire, but you’ll also see blue jeans.
The contemporary service (11AM) has more jeans than suits, but no matter what you wear, your attire won’t offend anyone. We’re here to welcome you.
If coming to worship Jesus means wearing jeans and a t-shirt, then wear that. If you prefer to be more formal – even something like wearing a suit and tie or dress – then wear that. The beauty of the Gospel is that it is about Jesus, not about us.
What about my kids?
Children are always welcome at Vermont Street United Methodist Church! If you have younger children, we offer a nursery staffed by screened professionals who are available to care for your children during the service. Older children are encouraged to participate in our worship service.
Between services (at 10:00AM) we offer age-appropriate Sunday School led by caring and dedicated volunteers who help the children connect with God and each other.
Above all, we want you to know that Vermont Street United Methodist Church is a safe environment for your entire family.
